WHAT IS GUSTO?

GUSTO is a Christ-focused variety song and dance group of young people from the Grand Traverse Region. Since 2014 we have performed upbeat shows in many venues, delivering a powerful infusion of love, joy, and hope to packed-out audiences of all ages.

Our History
In the spring of 2014, God placed on the heart of 19-year-old Jasmine Bower a vision of bringing together a group of like-minded Christian friends who shared a mutual love for Jesus and a passion for performing arts. We started with 21 members, creating and performing a unique one-hour show at a local church. We have since grown to over 50 members, doing summer shows, holiday shows, and special performances in various venues, including nursing homes, retirement villages, churches, and local businesses.

How We Operate
GUSTO rehearsals are held weekly at Jasmine's home in her parents' BowerArts studio. GUSTO has always been funded by Jasmine and her family, as well as generous donations by kind and caring supporters. In 8 years (11 show seasons), GUSTO has never charged an admission fee for shows, nor have Gustodians ever been charged a participation fee.

Our Mission Statement
GUSTO seeks to include youth (age 10 – young adult) who are music/dance/acting–minded, and mentor them in their relationship with God and others. We seek to accomplish this via various performing arts opportunities that are consistent with the life principles and commands taught by Jesus Christ. Our strategy is:
  • To meet weekly with "Gustodians"  to build relationships, teach and rehearse creative songs and routines, develop new skills and a disciplined work ethic, and cultivate a team atmosphere of respect, encouragement, and enthusiasm.
  • To inspire and train older Gustodians to invest themselves in the lives of younger Gustodians, by caring, coaching, and modeling a positive example of character, attitude, and creative excellence.
  • To offer the Grand Traverse community invigorating and unforgettable public performances and private shows.
  • To expand GUSTO's influence on the lives of more young people through a variety of other activities and ministry opportunities.
  • To replicate GUSTO's life-influencing successes by training leaders in techniques of effective leadership.

WANT TO SUPPORT?

Your generous donation helps G.U.S.T.O. continue its positive impact on Traverse City area youth. Thank you!
Gifts are not tax deductible.

OUR GOALS & NEEDS

• Expanding GUSTO's impact by increasing our capacity to meet together, perform, and reach a larger audience through more special opportunities (e.g. nursing homes, student workshops, etc.).

• Increasing our capacity for interested performers by providing smaller group opportunities that explore more specific niches, such as voice acting, dancing, music, and other creative activities.

• Raising funds to add a bathroom to the GUSTO rehearsing studio, making it  more accessible , and saving the overly-burdened septic tank of the private home that is currently being volunteered.

• Continuing to keep participation free for students and all our performances completely free of charge to the community.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

If you would like to help us in our efforts to continue reaching and having a positive impact on young people in our community, we would greatly appreciate your participation in these areas:

Prayer Support
GUSTO began under God's direction, and can only continue to thrive under His direction. It is our sincere desire to be guided by Him and to stay submitted to His purposes. Prayers for wisdom, fruitfulness, and guidance are absolutely vital day by day, year by year.

Financial Support

GUSTO runs completely on God's grace conveyed through the gifts of generous individuals. All donations, whether one-time or on a monthly basis, are deeply appreciated!
